Hello Ed, thanks for having me, it’s a great honor to share my story with the World of Models family!

I was born and live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It’s a very touristic city. Many big events have been happening here lately like 2014 FIFA World Cup, Carnival, and a great expectation for The Olympic Games 2016.

So the city lately have been very busy and receiving a lot of people from all over the world. But the main brazilian fashion industry, the biggest model agencies, most of magazines, are located in São Paulo.

Rio is a place where you can find a lot of brazilian and foreinger  photographers as well as amazing locations because of the natural beauties, like beaches, forest, mountains.

I start studying photography here in small courses for a short time, and soon I went to NYC to study at ICP, for some time. After about a year, I came back to Brazil and I started doing assistance for some national and international photographers. Same years later I started doing my own works.

Photography always been one of my favorite hobbies, since young kid. I always had a camera with me on my trips, shooting most of the time almost everything that could be  important to be remembered.

Robert and his unique style

Moments, locations, landscapes, friends, I don’t know if I could define my style of If I follow any. I sincerely rather be more concern about making beautiful images, using what I have on that moment  I’m shooting.

And when a client needs a very specific kind of picture I  prefer doing what they need than making what I would like to do. Of course I try to explain my point of view, but in a job, I do what the client wants.

I think the style comes naturally on my images over my view, angle, light.  I do like a bit of movement on the images, dynamic ones, mixing up with the natural light to have more control on the result of the image.

The digital era improved a great quality on photogrphers´work

Yes, definitly! When I started working as a photographer we used film, big cameras, we always lost precious days with laboratory stuff (taking the rolls to the lab, developing films, taking contact sheets to the clients, printing the pictures),

With the digital era we got more control of the material, since we can previous edit the material before send it to the client in a short period of time. Quality is much better now, no doubt about it! Photoshop becomes a very important process in most of the image´s work.

The special moments making amazing pics?

When I’m doing a job, I only stop when I “find the picture” for that specific job so I think the perfect moment depends on what work we are doing Sometimes we need more natural image, light, expression. and in other moments we need to build an image through an artificial light,

If is a photojournalism picture, u have to be ready in the right time and place.

IMAGE worth a THOUSAND WORDS?

Definitly yes for me! Specially if we assume that the same image could have many different interpretations and opinions.

Lately I have done more celebrities works, as advertising, campaigns and some musicals too.

Concerning working with models, when I see someone that I think have a special talent to be a model I try to introduce him/her to an agency, I make photo for some models and actors friends, and I feel really good doing that. It´s a great pleasure for me!
