Jesper Vieveen: “Most memorable show I did was in Amsterdam, It took place in a very cool church and I was lucky enough to open it”.

02 jul, 2014

My name is Jesper Vieveen, 23 years old and I grew up in a town called Zoetermeer in the Netherlands. I have two younger sisters and I love playing sports, food, hanging out with friends and travelling.

Tony Jones discovered me in a club in Amsterdam. At that time I was just visiting my family for the weekend since I was following an exchange program abroad. After I came back I thought why not give it a shot and I called Tony. One week later I did my first test shoot, just back from my wild and crazy period abroad I gained like 10 kg, I don’t think any of these picture ever really saw the daylight haha..

But two months later and 10 kg lighter again, I shot with the same photographer again and this time the pictures turned out great.

Although this was when I officially got introduced with the modeling world I was still in school. So when I graduated last August I decided to give it a try as a full-time thing. I mean it gives you the possibility to travel and meet a lot of interesting people, which I think is the best thing about this job in the end.

Posing to photographers and keeping every job interesting

Every photographer has his own style and way of shooting, which makes one shoot so different from the other. To discover every photographers style is one of the fun things because this this keeps every job interesting.

Once I was on a set with a baby, and a cake…. It’s sure to say we both had an equally hard time keeping our eyes off that cake.. Meanwhile the entire crew was jumping around and acting a fool to get “our” [the baby’s attention; picture the crew dancing, screaming and making weird sounds to get “our” attention back.

The catwalks´experiences

I have worked with some good fashion designers by now, including Versace and Corneliani. Shows I walked include Bikkembergs, Canali and Andrea Incontri. I think the coolest show I did so far was the one from Canali, the song from the movie Untouchables was performed live during the show, Goosebumps.

But the most memorable show I did was in Amsterdam. The show took place in a very cool church and I was lucky enough to open it. But by the time the show started, the music had some technical problems. As you can imagine I had a hard time remaining in model mode while chitchatting guests were bumping into me on the runway….. clearly they didn’t realise the show had already started.

When I´m walking down the catwalk most of the times I actually forget what I was thinking off. It goes by so fast. But before I have to walk out I always tell myself to enjoy the moment as much as I can.

Male models x Female models

Female models still rule this business, and for male models I’m afraid this will never change. Just look at the difference between the amount of jobs available for woman and the amount of jobs available for men. It’s simply a woman-focused business.

I can’t really say there are models that inspired me to pursue this career, cause I simply never though about doing this until I ran into Tony Jones. But if I have to name somebody that I see as an example at the moment I have to say Wouter Peelen, not only because he is Dutch, but mostly because I know him personally. If you do that well in the fashion world and you manage to stay down to earth, I think that shows you have character.

Jesper´s style: a fashionista?

I have to say that being a model changed my style, and definitely made me more aware of what I should or should not wear, but I wouldn’t say I’m a fashionista. I like to wear clothes that make me feel comfortable, you wouldn’t see me wearing some high fashion stuff.

Imagine u a famous model surrounded by a huge crowd!

I don’t believe anybody can tell how he or she would handle a situation in which they never have been until the actual moment arises. But I think I would feel paralyzed for a second, not really believing what is going on. Next I probably try to take some time with the crowd and make my way out.

Dating X Loving

I like the dating game, maybe that is a reason why I’m still single haha. No to be serious, I think it is hard to get into something serious with this life, I mean the constant insecurity of where you will be the next month. But I always say, when it happens it happens.

If you could have a super power what would it be? What´s your fav super hero?

If you can call it a superpower I would love to speak every language in the world and my fav superhero is Batman

The dumbest think you’ve ever heard a model say

“The Netherlands? That’s in Amsterdam right?!”
