Meet the model Elen Santiago
05 out, 2012
Hello!! It’s a pleasure to be here to share my story with the World of Models family!
My name is Elen Santiago, brazilian girl, 18 years and I was born in Salvador, Bahia.
I love my family, friends, I like to sing and play guitar too. Music relaxes me, it really makes me feel good.
And yeah, modeling is my life now!
How did all begin
Well, as a matter of fact, I´ve never thought about becoming a model. When I was younger I was thinking about becoming a veterinary, then I grew up and a friend of mine, who worked as a model, decided to take me to an agency. People always encouraged me to pursue this career but I didn´t want to quit studying so I just gave up. Years later, I really decided to give a try and here I am folks.
My first job was a shooting for the stylist Karol Farias, the result was great!
The best thing about modeling is to be able to be recognized around the world for your professionalism because the life of a model is not just the glamour, we go through many difficulties so it is necessary to give your best always!
Posing to the photographers
I always like to have a previous talking to them. I also read about their styles and once they start shooting, I just let it flows I´ve never posed naked, I don´t really feel myself comfortable doing that, but if I have to do that someday, I´d try to relax and focus on work. There was a photo I was shirtless and I need to put my arms under my breasts. The more I tried to hide, the more it appeared and I was really embarrassed! lol
The catwalks experiences
Before walking through the catwalk, I always think “Elen c’mon! Just some few minutes, so you have to do your best” Then, I take a deep breath and here I go!
Karol Farias and Vitorino Campos are some of the fashion designers that I had a great pleasure to work with.
A funny situation that ever happened to me was before entering the catwalk I did not have time to adjust the skirt, so I walked with her almost falling down and holding up with my own arms! :)
Male models x female models
Male models are getting more exposure but women still rule this business
Concerning the market for black models in my country, I think that could be better, blacks could have more exposure in the fashion world, only few are successful
I do not consider myself a fashionista.I don´t follow the fashion trends, but I like to wear fashionable clothes. I love the basic combination of jeans and t shirt
Imagine u a famous model surrounded by a huge crowd!
I’d be a little ashamed, but I’d do my best to attend everyone
Show biz, fame, success
The entertainment industry is something that is part of the business world. As I told u before, women still got more attention in this business than men, but many men have achieved their space in this market.
A woman who inspires me is Naomi Campbell, she was one of the first successful black models and has also inspired a whole new black models generation. A man who inspired me? Tyson Beckford!
Skating, but right now I´m just working out
Atracting someone´s attention
Just being myself
Having fun, enjoying life
Chilling out with my buddies, listening good music, go to the beadh and see the sunset. In São Paulo I use to go to Ibirapuera´s park. This is my way to enjoy life, I love to Wake up and see that God has gave me another day to do my best
Fav body part and why
My eyes. I think I have a striking look
In her Ipod
Eating lots of “brigadeiros” (a typical brazilian candy)
If you were not the model you’d be …
Work hard and be recognized for my professionalism. The best is yet to come!
An unforgettable moment
My first catwalk ever
Enjoy every moment that life gives you!
